BRCKO, June 21 (Hina) - The international community's High
Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carlos Westendorp, visited the
disputed northern Bosnian town of Brcko, and held talk with the town's
international supervisor Robert William Farrando.
I arrived in Bosnia two days before and I put Brcko among the top
priorities, Westendorp said at a news conference in Brcko.
The Spanish diplomat added that Brcko would show to the world at
which speed the peace accords were being implemented.
Westendorp, who succeeded Carl Bildt, said that a Sintra conference
had given a new incentive to the Dayton peace agreement.
The Dayton agreement faced greatest challenges in the Brcko area,
and for the international supervisor it was very important how much all
three parties abode by the Dayton deal and arbitration's decisions,
Westendorp told the conference.
He believed that obstacles for the holding of a donors' conference
would be soon removed. According to him, hurried preparations are under
way for the fund-raising conference which is expected to ensure 400
million dollars for Bosnia's economic development.
During his Saturday's tour to Brcko, Westendorp visited voter
registration centres where registration of eligible voters has been
repeated for four days.
