COMMEMORATIVE CEREMONY ORGANISED IN DOTRSCINA BY SABH

ZAGREB, June 22 (Hina) - On occasion of Croatia's Day of Antifascist Struggle on June 22, the association of Croatian antifascist veterans (SABH), organised a commemorative ceremony in the memorial park of Dotrscina in Zagreb on Sunday. A SABH Vice President, Stjepan Cerjan, described Dotrscina as one of the most horrible sites of Second World War. "Dotrscina is an execution ground where the unknown number of fighters against fascism were killed, and the Ustashi wanted to destroy the mind and soul of Croatian antifascism, and here is the place where they wanted to kill the leadership of the antifascist movement," Cerjan said. He said that Croatians, Serbs, Jews, Slovenians and others had been killed there, and added that they had been killed "as they condemned what the Ustashi regime used, and as they declared war to the evil that was gaining impetus in the NDH (1941-1945 Independent State of Croatia)." Cerjan said that the exact number of the killed in Dotrscina was not known, but stressed that there had been several thousands of people, out of whom were 940 Zagreb's antifascists who were buried in Dotrscina. He added that it hurt today when antifascists were being insulted and when there were attempts to revise history. "However, the Croatian antifascism remained consistent, and there is no force which can destroy what we and other antifascists had done for Croatia during the war," Cerjan added. A delegation of the SABH, laid wreaths at the monument to victims of fascism, and then the gathering observed a minute of silence in memory of the antifascists killed during the 1941-1945 national liberation war (NOR) and in memory of partisans' sons and grandsons killed during the Homeland War. On Sunday also, delegations of SABH placed wreaths at the tomb of national heroes, at Partisans' graveyard, at the grave of Vladimir Nazor and at the Cross to the Homeland War killed persons at Zagreb's cemetery of Mirogoj.
