PULA, June 24 (Hina) - Since there existed no possibilities for further
dialogue with the Croatian Electric Power Industry and the Croatian
Government, a delegation of the Istrian County addressed the Council of
Europe and the European Union with a request to assist in settling
problems concerning the building of the Plomin II thermo-electric power
plant, representatives of the county's assembly told reporters in Pula
on Tuesday.
The Istrian County's delegation visited the Council of Europe's
headquarters in Strasbourg twice, where they conveyed their dispute with
the Croatian Government concerning the building of the coal plant on the
western coast of the Istrian peninsula.
They agreed with Council of Europe representatives to have an
expert group visit Istria and evaluate the situation on the ground in
person, the county assembly's representatives told reporters, pointing
out that "the building of Plomin II will be discussed at one of the
Council of Europe's autumn sessions."
