of the Hungarian Committee for human rights and national minority and
religious communities rights, Gellert Kis Gabor, and Hungarian
Ambassador to Croatia, Zsolt Zsalay.
Ady Endre's president Peter Sekeres stressed that until Croatia's
independence, the society had been the only society in Croatia which
actively preserved Hungarian culture and tradition
The society received a medal in 1990 from the Hungarian Culture
Minister for its activities.
"during all these years we have tried not only to maintain the
Hungarian cultural identity, but also to connect two peoples which are
joined by 800 years of joint history," Sekeres said.
Mihanovic, an envoy of the Croatian Parliament President, stressed
that Hungarian culture and poetry were familiar in Croatia and that the
two countries' sciences and arts academies had especially contributed to
the high level of cultural relations between the two countries.
