SARAJEVO, June 19 (Hina) - A fund-raising conference for post-war
reconstruction of Bosnia-Herzegovina will be postponed until July 12,
Council of Ministers co-chairman Haris Silajdzic said in Sarajevo on
Thursday.
"We regret to say that the conference has been delayed until July
12. Although that date is not far, at the moment every day is important
to us," Silajdzic told reporters after a session of the Council of
Ministers in Sarajevo's National Museum.
Silajdzic declined to specify who was responsible for the delay.
"That question should be put to those who have failed to fulfil their
commitment," he said.
The international community insists that before a donors'
conference takes place the Bosnian Assembly should adopt seven laws from
the so-called "quick-start package", on which the Council of Ministers
reached agreement before a conference in Sintra, Portugal.
However, Bosnian Serbs subsequently demanded that a customs law be
excluded from the package, which the Office of the International High
Representative assessed as unacceptable.
Deputy High Representative Michael Steiner has reiterated the
position of the Office of the High Representative that the conference
should be held on June 24 as scheduled, provided that all conditions
have been met.
Another co-chairman, Boro Bosic, declined to comment on the
probable postponement of the conference, saying that the Council of
Ministers had fulfilled all of its obligations.
