"Contrary to rumours that tens of thousands of people are waiting to return to Croatia, today we have heard a report from the Office for Displaced Persons that 4,353 families, of which 486 are currently not living in the Croatian Danube region but in Serbia or elsewhere, have so far submitted requests for return under an agreement signed by the Croatian government, UNTAES (UN transitional administration) and UNHCR," commission chairman Jure Radic told reporters after the meeting.
