SARAJEVO, June 6 (Hina) - To date, only Croatia had met its commitments
form the Agreement on Weaponry Control in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina
and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, David Foley, spokesman for the
mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation In Europe, told
a press conference in Sarajevo on Friday.
According to the agreement signed in Florence, Italy, on 14 June
1996, all signatory countries had the commitment to destroy the
additional 3,700 pieces of heavy weaponry in the second part of the
agreement's implementation (until 31 October). To date, only Croatia had
done that, in April, Foley said.
In the second part of the agreement's implementation, FRY must
destroy about 1,000 pieces of weaponry, Foley said, assessing that the
government in Belgrade showed readiness to meet the commitment. In doing
so, the FRY Government would be assisted by expert teams from Italy and
Great Britain, he added.
Foley pointed out that a lot was left undone in Bosnia-Herzegovina
as well.
During the first part of the agreement's implementation, Serb
entity authorities had attempted to abuse the provision on the
possibility of retaining a certain amount of weaponry for education and
research, but eventually submitted data on the weaponry, Foley said.
Their commitment was to destroy an additional 1,000 pieces of weaponry,
he added, pointing out that the destroying would be supervised by
experts from France and Germany.
The BH Federation began to fulfil its obligation from the second
part of the agreement's implementation this week, Foley concluded.
