Apitz said that the signing of the agreement proved the World
Bank's trust in the transitional achievements of Croatian economy.
As proof of the successful cooperation between the World Bank and
Croatia, he pointed out the appointment of the new World Bank director
for Croatia, who is next week to visit Croatia to get acquainted with
the economic situation.
The World Bank Regional Mission Office is expected to be opened in
Zagreb by the end of summer, which would facilitate communication and
contribute to a more effective realisation of financial arrangements
with the World Bank.
Zuzul thanked Apitz for advocating the implementation of financial
agreements with Croatia, and stressed that the Bank's help was not only
needed in the financial section, but also in influencing other forms of
international help. As regards the concrete EFSAL agreement, it would
help the restructuring and adjustment of big systems (e.g. Privredna
Banka and Croatian oil company INA), Zuzul said.
