ABU DHABI, 18 March (Hina) - The Croatian military industry has for the first time presented its products at the international exhibition of military equipment INDEX 97, which is being held from 16 to 20 March in Abu Dhabi, the United
Arab Emirates.
ABU DHABI, 18 March (Hina) - The Croatian military industry has for
the first time presented its products at the international
exhibition of military equipment INDEX 97, which is being held from
16 to 20 March in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. #L#
INDEX 97 gathers 747 exhibitors from 53 countries. Croatia
presents some 120 products of the Croatian military industry
through exhibits, models, brochures and videos.
Military production for the needs of the Croatian Navy is
presented through models of the rocket gun-boat 'Petar Kresimir
IV', a patrol boat, a landing mine-carrying ship, a logistic repair
and maintenance ship and a brochure on a ship for anti-mine
operations, whose prototype should be launched this year.
A model of the Croatian mini submarine 'Velebit' has also been
presented at the exhibition, as well as diving equipment for
commando operations and a brochure on an anchor sea mine with
acoustic fuse.
The section with cannon and rocket arms presents a 122-mm
howitzer and 120-, 82- and 60-mm mortars and rocket launchers.
The section with armoured vehicles presents models of M-84 A
and M-84 AB tanks, a model of Degman - a new Croatian tank which
will be based on M-84 AB model, but will have a new turret, a
stronger engine and better electronic equipment.
Two armoured vehicles - reconnaissance vehicle LOV 2 and
armoured vehicle LOV RAK 24/128 with multiple rocket launcher have
also been presented.
The infantry weapons section includes 9-mm automatic gun
'Kro', Croatian 5.65-mm assault rifle, 40-mm rocket launcher and
40-mm mortar the magazine of which holds six shells.
Guests at the exhibition were interested most in the tactic
sniper rifle RT-20mm. The weapon is intended for precision
targeting of non-armoured and light-armoured targets up to the
distance of 1600 meters.
The Croatian pavilion includes conventional weapons and
ammunition as well as other defence equipment such as radio
devices, phone telephone exchange, training equipment for shooting,
mine detectors and bullet-proof vests and helmets.
