ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - To prevent the introduction of the
infectious classic pig's plague into Croatia, Croatian Agriculture
and Forestry Minister Zlatko Dominikovic gave out orders in the
beginning of March, prohibiting the import into and transport
through Croatia of pigs and wild boars, as well as their products
from the Netherlands, Czech Republic - Breclav region, Italy -
Umbria and Campania regions and Germany. #L#
The prohibition also concerns packages of live and wild pigs
from other countries if they are being transported through the
above mentioned countries, or certain regions of the countries.
The prohibition does not apply to products of domestic pigs or
wild boars intended for human nourishment which have had heat
applied to them with the temperature in the centre of the product
reaching at least 70 degrees Celsius, or if they have had heat
applied to them in a hermetically sealed package with Fo 3 or more.
In order to prevent the introduction of the foot and mouth
disease into Croatia, Dominikovic gave orders about the prohibition
of import into and transport through Croatia of ungulata (cattle,
sheep, goats and pigs), as well as their products and animal food
originating from Greece - Evros province.
The order which came into effect in mid-March, prohibits the
import and export of live ungulata, their products, animal food and
plants, except in cases when the package has a veterinary
certificate on which the signed inspector confirms that the goods
are from a location in which, and 40 kilometres around which, there
have been no cases of the foot and mouth disease in the past six
months, and if the vehicle has been cleaned and disinfected before
loading.
The order also details cases to which the prohibitions do not
apply.
