PETRINJA, Mar 17 (Hina) - A Japanese delegation from Miyami on
Monday visited Petrinja, 50 km to the south-east of Zagreb,
liberated in summer 1995, for the second time this year.
The Mayor of Petrinja Josip Dolenec and colleagues agreed with
the delegation cooperation between elementary and high schools and
kindergartens of Petrinja and Miyami. The children should
correspond and nurture pen friendship.
In Petrinja's old gardens, representatives from the two towns
planted two cherry seedlings, Japan's traditional ornamental tree.
500 more would be planted, the representatives said.
Gifu, Japan's cherry association, gave 1,000 seedlings to a
refugee camp in Mala Gorica and 500 trees to the Sisak County
Centre.
