ZAGREB, Mar 15 (Hina) - Vice President of the Croatian Parliament
Jadranka Kosor on Saturday received a delegation of the Soroptimist
clubs from Europe, on the occasion of the admission of the Zagreb
Club into the European Federation of Soroptimist Clubs.
Soroptimist International is the biggest non-government
charity organization of women employees in the United States,
established in 1921. Today it has about 95,000 members in 112
countries, and its work focuses on the protection of human rights,
the stimulation of economic development, ecology projects, health
and social welfare.
Kosor thanked the delegation for their visit to the Croatian
Parliament and speaking about women in Croatia, she especially
mentioned those who suffered most during the war, as well as women
who had not left their workplace while their towns and villages
were being attacked. Speaking about women politicians, Kosor said
that there were some in the Croatian Government and Parliament, but
"not as many as we would like".
