ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Ivica
Kostovic received UN Transitional Administrator Jacques Klein in
Zagreb on Friday to discuss preparations for elections in the
Danube region, the restoration of Croatian administration, the
return of displaced people and the finalization of a
reconstruction programme.
Kostovic said that Klein was given a list of the Justice
Ministry containing the names of people who had committed
criminal offences and crimes.
Klein said that there was great interest in the list and that
he would present it to local Serb leader Vojislav Stanimirovic on
Saturday.
Kostovic said that they also discussed some provisions of the
Erdut peace agreement.
We expect that everything would be all right during the pre-
election period to the satisfaction of the Transitional
Administrator, the Croatian Government and the displaced people
who are waiting for the elections as a real political moment that
will make it possible for them to return to their homes, Kostovic
said.
Klein described the meeting as very useful and expressed
satisfaction with the process of issuing Croatian citizenship
documents and registration for the elections, due to take place
on April 13.
Klein expressed hope that the successful conduct of the
elections would enable the achievement of the main goal by July
15 - the establishment of Croatian sovereignty in the Danube
region.
