ZAGREB, Mar 11 (Hina) - Almost 1,000 participants, many from
abroad, were expected at the International Marathon at the Plitvice
Lakes national park (100 kilometres to the south of Zagreb), to
take place on 22 June, the organizers told reporters at the
"Plitvice" motel on Tuesday.
The complete programme of this year's marathon, whose
preparations are well under way, was presented at the press
conference. The marathon will take place along an asphalt path
running by the Korana river, the lakes and the waterfalls.
The average temperature at the Plitvice Lakes in June is about
15 degrees Centigrade, and since the 42 km long route is 70 percent
in the shade, the conditions for the competitors will be more than
favourable.
