ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - Croatian Red Cross president Jadranko
Crnic and the deputy head of the UNHCR mission in Croatia, Serge
Ducasse, on Friday signed an agreement on the programme of
cooperation for 1997.
Under the programme, the UNHCR would secure USD 2.3 million
for the needs of displaced persons and refugees in Croatia, for
home visits to elderly people and for investments in an education
programme.
Ducasse said that the aid programme would cover about 300,000
people.
Crnic thanked UN High Commissioner for Refugees Sadako Ogata
for the assistance provided in the last few years, expressing hope
that the time would come soon when that assistance would not be
necessary any more.
