'We are more than satisfied with the outcome of this visit',
Matesa told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.
"What we can particularly be satisfied with is that we are
going to make one of our greatest investments here. The company
'Koncar' from Zagreb and 'Siemens' from Vienna are going to
construct here a factory of transformers, which will open a vast
market for 'Koncar'", Matesa said.
During Premier Matesa's visit to Malaysia, several other
business deals will be arranged.
The Croatian construction company 'Hidroelektra' will continue
the construction of roads in Saravah, part of Borneo which belongs
to Malaysia, while 'Hrvatska brodogradnja' is likely to close new
business deals concerning the construction of ships for the
Malaysian state company.
Business deals between Croatia and Malaysia are especially
important because they mark the transition from classical trade to
higher forms of economic cooperation, joint investments and
projects.
Premier Matesa visited today the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce
in Kuala Lumpur, as well as several largest Malaysian companies.
Premier Matesa presented the economic and financial situation
in Croatia to Malaysian business people who gathered in the
Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, and called for cooperation with
Croatian companies.
During the visit to the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, the
Croatian company 'Niva Kuala Lumpur' and the Malaysian company
'Tioman Pearl' signed an agreement on the construction of the first
marina on the island of Tioman. The marina will be built by
Croatian constructors.
Matesa and his associates also visited the Malaysian state
power industry Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). Representatives of the
Malaysian power industry were interested in their participation in
the reconstruction of a 300 megawatt thermo-power plant in Zagreb.
The Croatian delegation also visited the largest Malaysian
bank May Bank whose capital amounts to 2 billion dollars.
