decision of the American arbiter about the status of Brcko and called all
sides to implement the decision of the Arbitration Tribunal. #L#
The United States believe that the decision was a just assessment
which put high priority on the calming of existing tensions in the region,
as a key to the solution of the status of this strategically important area,
State Department spokesman Nicholas Burns said in Washington on Friday,
adding that the US were devoted to the implementation of the decision.
Burns recalled that the sides were obliged to support and implement
the arbitration decision.
He said that the US Administration did not agree with estimated that
the decision of Roberts Owen had awarded the Bosnian Serbs.
Frankly speaking, because of the halt in the implementation of the
Dayton Agreement in Brcko, Owen had concluded that a transitory solution was
necessary, Burns said.
He added that the High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina Carl
Bildt had asked of the United States to designate an American who would be
in charge of the international control of Brcko.
