ZAGREB, Feb 20 (Hina) - The Independent Trade Union of
Croatian high school employees on Thursday organized a five-
minute strike, the first in a series of strikes for a
collective agreement, said the Trade Union's president Vesna
Kanižaj.
The aim of the strike, Kanižaj explained, was to reach an
agreement on labour costs, labour conditions, promotion, the
work norm, basic wages and the employer's obligation to
provide care for the quality of education.
The trade union estimates that many teachers showed up
for the strike.
Vice-premier Ljerka Mintas-Hodak's statement regarding
the Independent Trade Union's proposal for a collective
agreement for secondary schools arrived today around noon,
Kanizaj said, adding that the Trade Union's Presidency and
Negotiation Committee would reach its decision in relation to
it within two days.
