ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - Croatia and Philippines will soon
strengthen economic relations which are currently almost non-
existent, Philippine Economy and Development Minister Cielito
Habito said on Monday.
Croatian Premier Zlatko Matesa and the Philippine
Minister Habito met in Zagreb for talks on promotion of
economic ties between the two countries.
I hope we shall pave the way for stronger economic
relations through trade and joint projects, Habito told
reporters after the talks with Matesa.
Minister Habito is the highest-ranking Philippine
government official who has visited Croatia so far.
Croatia and Philippines consider possibilities of
cooperation in shipbuilding, a fledgling industry in
Philippines.
Minister Habito said Croatian officials had given him
encouraging statements on possibilities of transfer of
shipbuilding technology to his country.
A large group of Croatian businessmen will visit
Philippines next October to gain an insight in opportunities
of economic cooperation.
