SARAJEVO, Dec 1 (Hina) - Bosnian Serb exhumation teams over the last
four days unearthed the bodies of 55 persons from the Lav Cemetery
and a makeshift war-time grave near the Kosevo stadium, both in
Sarajevo.
Twenty-eight persons exhumed from the Lav Cemetery had been buried
in single graves, whereas the remaining 27 were discovered in a mass
grave on another site, Alexandra Stiglmeyer, spokeswoman for the
international high representative's office in Bosnia, said on
Tuesday.
She explained the mass grave is believed to contain the bodies of
persons killed during the first two war years in Sarajevo. The
victims, whose bodies were discovered on Trebevic Mountain in 1993,
were killed by rebels of the Army of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The killing of these persons was ascribed to the infamous Musan
Topalovic Caco, commander the Army of BH's Tenth Brigade, who was
executed in October 1993.
The remains exhumed from Lav Cemetery were mainly buried in
regularly marked graves. Their families however requested
subsequent identification.
