"TRANSATLANTIC" PREMIERS IN ZAGREB

ZAGREB, Nov 26 (Hina) - "Transatlantic", Croatia's candidate for the Academy Award, premiered in Zagreb on Thursday evening. Directed and scripted by Mladen Juran, "Transatlantic" speaks about Croatian emigrants in the United States in the first decades of this century. In January, the film will be presented in Los Angeles. Later this month, it will stand the Golden Globe competition, traditionally seen as fair indicator of the following year's Oscars. Based on Juran's eponymous short feature from 1981, "Transatlantic" was shot in Zagreb and Murter, and in New York, Pittsburgh, and the Niagara Falls over an eight-day period. The film stars Boris Dvornik, Alen Liveric, Ivo Gregurevic, Josip Genda, Mustafa Nadarevic, Relja Basic, and Matija Prskalo. Nenad Bach, Alan Bjelinski, and Darko Pecotic are responsible for the soundtrack, while Goran Trbuljak was director of photography. An eponymous series will shortly be made by Croatian Television, which produced the movie in association with "Jadran Film". At this year's Croatian Film Festival in Pula, "Transatlantic" won four "Golden Arenas", in the best actor, photography, costumes, and make-up categories. (hina) ha
