PRISTINA, Nov 24 (Hina) - The humanitarian situation of displaced
Albanian population is deteriorating drastically due to the cold
winter and heavy snowfalls, Albanian sources reported on Tuesday.
The humanitarian situation is the worst in Malisevo, Srbica and
Klina municipalities, said the same source. Almost 70 per cent of
residents of the Srbica municipality have been left without homes,
which were demolished during the eight-month conflict with Serbian
police and military forces.
Most of them have found accommodation in basements, with large
families temporarily sharing one room each.
Forty-seven out of the 52 villages which belong to the Srbica
municipality have been left without power supply, while the village
of Srbica has been left without drinking water.
In general, all Albanian villages, which were caught in war
operations, are lacking food, medicine, clothes, shoes and
firewood.
About 15,000 residents of Malisevo, the province's poorest
municipality, have been left roofless. Approximately 30,000
Albanians from the area of Klina, central Kosovo, have nowhere to
return.
