THE HAGUE, Nov 21 (Hina) - A hunger strike in the prison of the
International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY)
in Scheveningen ended on Saturday, after a medical doctor examined
the ill Drago Josipovic, said Anto Nobilo, defence attorney for
Tihomir Blaskic, general of the Croatian Defence Council in Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
ICTY prisoners on Josipovic's floor decided on Friday to go on
strike after Josipovic, 43, who on Tuesday complained of a swelling
on his head, was not examined by a doctor by Friday, but was only
visited by a nurse on Wednesday.
After the doctor's arrival on Friday, Josipovic was taken to
hospital for a check-up.
Prisoners from other floors joined in the protest on Saturday.
Following another examination by the doctor, the protest ended on
Saturday afternoon, although the inmates requested to speak with
the highest-ranking Tribunal officials - president of secretary -
instead of representatives of the secretariat who visited them on
Friday.
The prisoners want for the issue of a more available and better
doctor's assistance to be solved.
