ZAGREB, Oct 19 (Hina) - During a two-hour discontinuance of
railroad traffic organised on Monday by three railroad unions, 60
passenger trains, 12 cargo trains as well as 40 manoeuvre
compositions were delayed, reported the Office of the Croatian
Railways (HZ) General Director.
The protest, which lasted from 10 to 12 a.m., was organised by the
Croatian Railroad Workers' Union, The Union of the HZ
Infrastructure and the Croatian Union of Engine-Drivers due to
delays in the payment of salaries and material rights of HZ
employees.
The Union of Train Controllers (SPHV), the only one that did not
respond to the invitation to participate in the strike, stated that
it "energetically and decisively rejects partial solutions which
would satisfy the requirements of a minority of employees".
"If the requirements of the three unions are met, the rest of the
employees, including train controllers, will find themselves in an
inferior position", said Ante Ilicic, the SPHV secretary.
