ZAGREB, Sept 25 (Hina) - The development and existing conditions of
constitutional law in Croatia, Italy and Germany were discussed at
a seminar held on Friday at the Croatian Bar Association.
Opening the seminar, which gathered leading constitutional law
experts from the three countries, Croatian Constitutional Court
President Jadranko Crnic said he expected that ideas expressed
during the seminar would be applied in the establishment of modern
and quality constitutional law.
Speakers from Germany and Italy largely discussed the development
of their constitutions in the post-war period.
Croatian Constitutional Court judge Nikola Filipovic explained the
development of Croatia's constitution both prior to and following
the establishment of an independent, democratic state.
He said the Croatian Constitution was a developing system which
expressed European principles of organisation of the state and he
emphasised its importance of protecting the rights of Croatian
citizens living abroad as well as the Constitution's respect for
the rights of national minorities.
