TUZLA, Aug 30 (Hina) - The US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright
arrived at Tuzla airport (northern Bosnia) on Sunday afternoon.
Albright, accompanied by the US envoy for the Balkans, Robert
Gelbard, was welcomed by the US Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Richard Kauzlarich, Stabilisation Force commander for Sector
North, Major General Larry Elis, Tuzla Canton prefect Sead
Jamakosmanovic and Tuzla mayor Selim Beslagic.
During a short visit to the SFOR Sector North headquarters, which is
located at the airport, Albright met US solders and held talks with
the Tuzla canton prefect and the town mayor.
Following the talks, Albright left for Bijeljina, in north-eastern
Bosnia, where she will meet Republika Srpska President Biljana
Plavsic and Premier Milorad Dodik and visit power generating plants
which are being constructed under the sponsorship of the U.S.
Agency for International Development (USAID).
After Bijeljina, Albright will visit Sarajevo, where she is to hold
talks with local officials tomorrow.
