ZAGREB, Aug 21 (Hina) - More than 70,000 people of all ages turned up
to Zagreb racecourse on Thursday night to welcome The Rolling
Stones back to the Croatian capital after a 22-year break.
And the legendary foursome - comprising Mick Jagger, Keith
Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts - returned the favour with an
unforgettable rock spectacle featured as part of the group's
Bridges To Babylon world tour.
Following a performance by Scottish support act Big Country, the
Stones emerged onto the stage shortly after 9.45pm and kicked off
the concert with the hit "Satisfaction".
Despite some rain accompanying the show which nearly lasted two and
a half hours, the British rockers performed 21 of their hits for
their admirers who arrived to the concert from all parts of Croatia
and neighbouring countries.
Several times during the performance Stones frontman Mick Jagger
addressed the crowd in Croatian.
This was the Stones' second visit to Zagreb. The last time was in
1976 when they held two concerts at the Sports Hall.
This Zagreb concert, which was originally to be held on May 28 but
was shifted to August 20 after Keith Richards injured himself, was
the 95th as part of the Bridges To Babylon tour which kicked off last
September in Chicago.
