INT COMMUNITY WILL BE RESOLUTE IN INVESTIGATING TRAVNIK MURDER

( Editorial: --> 1765 ) SARAJEVO, Aug 4 (Hina/Habena) - The international community will be energetic in demanding that the perpetrators of all terrorist acts and murders in the area of Travnik and Central Bosnia Canton be found, the deputy international high representative for Bosnia Hans Schumacher said on Tuesday. Travnik and Central Bosnia Canton are the founding stone of the Croat-Muslim Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, he told reporters in Sarajevo. That is why Muslim and Croat authorities are responsible for the implementation of the peace agreement, Schumacher said, and noted that good results as well had been achieved in the area. Federal Vice President Vladimir Soljic told the same press conference that the media had recently been manipulating with a statement he made saying that Croats in central Bosnia would self- organise to defend themselves. "Focusing on that statement diverted attention from the real cause of the problem, which is the murder of a policeman of Croat nationality and the eighth murder of a Croat in this area", Soljic said. Asked if there had been any progress in discovering the perpetrator of last week's policeman murder in Travnik, Soljic said that the commissioner of the International Police Task Force Richard Monk had gathered a lot of data and indicated a good direction in the investigation. No decision has yet been reached as to when the Croat policemen, who did not show up for work at the Central Bosnian cantonal Interior Ministry following the murder, will resume work, Soljic said. The issue of their safety has not yet been resolved, he added. "I wouldn't call these people into death, but I am neither calling them to a boycott", he said. (hina) ha 041825 MET aug 98
