INVESTIGATING CLAIM AGAINST NADA SAKIC SUBMITTED BY ZAGREB STATE ATTORNEY'S OFFICE

ATTORNEY'S OFFICE ( Editorial: --> 9762 ) ZAGREB, July 24 (Hina) - The County State Attorney's Office in Zagreb on Friday submitted an investigating claim to the investigating judge of the Zagreb County Court against Nada (Esperanza) Sakic from Argentina, the Zagreb County State Attorney Radovan Santek told Hina. The state attorney's office suggested detention on suspicion that Nada Sakic committed a war crime against civilians from Article 120 of Croatia's Basic Criminal Law. Sakic is accused of being a member of Ustasha units in World War Two Croatia who together with other Ustasha officials tortured an as yet undetermined number of female prisoners in a Croatian concentration camp in Stara Gradiska from late 1942 to 1945. The torturing resulted in the death of a large, as yet undetermined number of people. It is expected the Croatian Ministry of Justice will following this claim and relevant court decisions forward a request to Argentina to extradite Nada Sakic to Croatian judicial bodies. The wife of Dinko Sakic, the recently extradited commander of a WW2 Croatian concentration camp in Jasenovac, Nada Sakic was arrested on Friday in Santa Teresita, an Argentinean summer resort near Buenos Aires. Argentina received a request for her extradition from Yugoslavia. (hina) ha 242250 MET jul 98
