ZAGREB, July 19 (Hina) - Main events marking the European Heritage
Days in Croatia will be held in September in the eastern city of
Vukovar, where an exhibition of photographs showing objects of
cultural significance reconstructed and damaged in Homeland War
will also be held.
European Heritage Days will also be marked in the village of Krapje,
featuring, among else, the cultural tradition of Jasenovačka
Posavina region.
Also seminars entitled "The Role of Heritage in the Development of
Rural Regions - Learning from the Examples" and "How to Put Heritage
to Good Use" will be organised.
Sources from the Cultural Heritage Protection Directorate of the
Croatia's Ministry of Culture deem that the Art-Conservation
Departments will organise similar events in other regions in order
to promote cultural heritage.
Central festivities marking the European Heritage Days in Croatia
have so far been organised in Krapje in 1995, in Lipik in 1996 and in
Dubrovnik in 1997.
Main events marking the Heritage Days in Europe will be organised by
the Cultural Heritage Committee of the Council of Europe and will
take place on September 5 and 6, in Stockholm.
European Heritage Days entitled "The Historical Monuments Days"
were held in France in 1984 for the first time.
