GLINA, July 15 (Hina) - Croatian Reconstruction and Development
Minister Jure Radic and president of the management board of the
Zagreb-based pharmaceutical company "Pliva", Zeljko Covic, on
Wednesday opened a new plant in Glina (about 70km south of Zagreb,
in a war-affected area).
The plant will produce children's food and cereals "Vivera".
The department for production of "Vivera" employs 50 workers -
returnees and settlers in the area, which was liberated in a police
and military action in 1995.
Two production lines with the annual capacity of 4,000 tonnes of
children's food started operating on Wednesday.
Pliva has invested almost two million dollars in the reconstruction
of the Glina plant.
By restarting production in the Glina plant Pliva is giving its
contribution to the revival of economy and creation of normal
living conditions in this area, which has a long-standing
agricultural tradition and potential, Covic said.
Part of the production from the Glina plant will be exported to
central and east European countries, he added.
The opening of factories and creation of jobs in the areas of
special state concern is extremely important for the Croatian state
because it secures the survival of returnees and settlers and
decent living for all residents in the area, Minister Radic said.
