CROATIAN RADIO TV CHIEF ASKS PARLIAMENT TO CONFIRM HIS RESIGNATION

( Editorial: --> 5314 ) ZAGREB, July 3 (Hina) - Croatian Radio Television (HRT) director and management board president Ivica Mudrinic has sent a request to the Croatian National Parliament asking for an acceptance of his resignation. Mudrinic informed the HRT supervisory board of his intentions on Thursday, Croatian Television (HTV) reported in its main evening news bulletin last night. Supervisory board members at a meeting held on Thursday accepted a report by Mudrinic on HRT's operations during the first five months of this year. The board pointed out the increase in advertising revenue and since expenditure grew less than revenues, HRT made a profit of US$3 million. At the meeting Mudrinic informed supervisory board members of his letter sent to Parliament President Vlatko Pavletic. "I have asked the honourable House of Representatives of the Croatian National Parliament to on account of my taking over of new duties... relieve me of my duties as director and president of the management board of HRT," Mudrinic said in the letter, according to the HTV report. "At the same time I would like to thank respected deputies and all members of the Council and Supervisory Board of HRT for their support and cooperation during the past two and a half years, whose result is the consolidation of operations and technological progress of HRT, which was confirmed on the occasion of discussion and acceptance on the report on activities of HRT for 1997, at a meeting of the House of Representatives of the Croatian National Parliament. "I wish to add that HRT is equipped and ready for the next phase in the democratisation of HRT, and its transformation or restructuring from a state into a public broadcaster."
