ZAGREB, June 18 (Hina) - The Trial Chamber of the International
Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague
will hear the closing arguments of the defence and the prosecution
in the Slavko Dokmanovic case most probably on Thursday June 25, an
ICTY statement said Thursday.
A former president of the Vukovar, eastern Croatia, Municipal
Assembly, Dokmanovic is charged with two counts of grave breaches
of the Geneva Convention, two counts of violations of the laws and
customs of war and two counts of crimes against humanity.
During Dokmanovic's mandate as mayor of Vukovar, members of the
former Yugoslav People's Army and Serb paramilitary units removed
from the city hospital 260 men, who were later taken to nearby
Ovcara and killed, the ICTY statement said.
Dokmanovic first appeared before the tribunal July 4, 1997, seven
days after his arrest, when he pleaded not guilty.
His trial began January 19 this year.
