SARAJEVO, June 17 (Hina) - "Imperfect Peace", a book written by
Bosnian Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic, was presented in Sarajevo
Wednesday evening.
The presentation at the Foreign Ministry building was attended by
numerous ambassadors accredited in the country, and was addressed
by the international High Representative for the implementation of
the Dayton peace agreement in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BH) Carlos
Westendorp.
Regardless of all the faults to which Prlic's book points, the
Dayton peace agreement is important for and necessary to BH,
Westendorp said.
Even an imperfect peace is better than a perfect war, he
emphasised.
The presence of the international community in BH will help
strengthen the peace process, the High Representative said, citing
as priorities to ensure market economy and eliminate the war-time
way of thinking which, he said, is still evident with Bosnian
politicians.
Westendorp said he and Prlic agreed in believing in Europe. As a
result of this the idea of special relations between BH and the
European Union was formally confirmed at last week's meeting of EU
Foreign Ministers in Luxembourg, he said.
The Bosnian Foreign Minister said his immediate activities will
focus on the economic development of BH, the stabilisation of the
peace process, the improvement of living conditions and of
relations with the international community.
