WASHINGTON, May 27 (Hina) - A seminar on experiences of the U.N.
Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES) in
Croatia commenced in New York on Tuesday.
The seminar was organised by the United Nations Peace Operations
Department and will last several days.
Croatian Ambassador to the U.N. Ivan Simonovic is heading the
Croatian delegation at the seminar.
The event has gathered all key UN representatives who have worked on
the UNTAES peace operation, including UN Under-Secretary for Peace
Operations Bernard Miyet, Transitional Administrators Jacques
Klein and William Walker and the head of the UN Zagreb office,
Souren Serayadarian.
The seminar will analyse UNTAES results and cooperation between the
U.N. and other international organisations such as NATO and OSCE
during this operation as well as offer recommendations for new
peace operations.
