RADIC RECEIVES GERMAN PARLIAMENTARIANS

( Editorial: --> 4823 ) ZAGREB, May 18 (Hina) - Croatia will not pose as an obstacle to the return of refugees and displaced persons, but it expects greater understanding during the process, as well as help from Germany and the international community, Croatian Reconstruction and Development Minister Jure Radic said on Monday. Radic held talks in Zagreb with a delegation of the German Parliament headed by Commissioner for Croatia, Hartmut Koschyk. Radic recalled that almost all the burden of reconstruction and return was carried by Croatia on its own, the Ministry said in a statement. Radic informed the German representatives about the dynamics of reconstruction and return of displaced persons, as well as efforts in order to ensure a balanced development of all Croatian areas. He expressed hope that the interest of the international community would not continue to be orientated only towards a one-way return of displaced persons. Radic stressed that Croatia was and would be open to all those who want partnership cooperation in solving all difficult problems. Koschyk relayed the satisfaction of the international community with Croatia's expressed resoluteness to initiate the dynamics of return of all displaced persons. Equal efforts would be requested from other sides in the process. Reconstruction and the return of displaced persons is also a task for the international community, Koschyk stressed. Germany will stimulate members of the European Union to get more involved in the reconstruction of Croatia, and would itself also continue to contribute to the reconstruction, according to Koschyk, the Ministry said.
