ZAGREB, May 14 (Hina) - The Croatian government and an Italian
company on Thursday signed an agreement on the construction of a
highway from Zagreb to the Hungarian border.
Croatian Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications Minister
Zeljko Luzavec and owner of the "Astaldi" company, Jacoppo Astaldi,
signed an agreement on investments and on the establishment of a
joint company "Transeuropska Cesta" d.o.o. - a company for the
development, construction and management of the Zagreb-Gorican
road.
The agreement, valued at DM830 million, is for the construction of a
97km-long highway, Luzavec said after the signing.
Under the agreement, Croatia will cover the cost of construction
with 49 per cent and Astaldi with 51 per cent of investment.
Luzavec stressed that the highway will be completed by the year
2000.
