OSIJEK, May 14 (Hina) - Following the recent unsuccessful non-
binding referendum, the provisional municipality of Tenja (eastern
Croatia) is returning to the city of Osijek on 30 June, head of the
county office of general administration, Franjo Zdravcevic,
announced on Thursday.
The provisional municipality of Tenja was established on 30 June
1997 for a one-year term by the former Transitional Administrator
for the Danube region, Jacques Klein.
Of 5,555 voters, 700 voters turned out to the initiative of the Serb
Democratic Independent Party (SDSS) which was held from 4 to 8 May,
which was less than one-third of the electorate necessary to secure
the validity of the referendum.
