ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - The former Jasenovac concentration camp
commander Dinko Sakic, who is to be tried for war crimes in Croatia,
may be greeted warmly there, as a hero, said an article in
Wednesday's issue of the US daily "The Washington Post".
The lengthy article, titled "Extradition - to a Hero's Welcome?
World War II Camp Chief May Be Greeted Warmly in Croatia", brings
already known details about Sakic's arrest and Croatia's request
for his extradition, as well as a statement by Slavko Nikolesic,
charge d'affaires in the Yugoslav Embassy in Buenos Aires.
"I have a fear that the trial will not be conducted properly in a
country where (Sakic) is clearly considered a hero," Nikolesic told
"The Washington Post".
The Yugoslav government has also requested Sakic's extradition
but the necessary paperwork will probably not reach Argentina until
Sakic arrives in Croatia, the paper says.
