ZAGREB, April 25 (Hina) - The 100th anniversary of the birth of
great Croatian donator Ante Topic Mimara was celebrated on Saturday
in the Zagreb Museum "Mimara", under the auspices of Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman.
The event included the unveiling of a plaque with Mimara's image,
made by sculptor Stipe Sikirica.
The Museum "Mimara" - a donation of art collector, painter and
restorer Ante Topic Mimara and his wife Wiltrud - was opened in
1987. The collection contains 3,750 works of art, made of different
materials and in different techniques, in different countries and
in different time periods - ranging from prehistory to the 20th
century, said President Tudjman's representative, Culture
Minister Bozo Biskupic.
In memory of the 100th birth anniversary of Ante Topic Mimara, the
Museum "Mimara" printed a new museum guide book. A special
commemorative stamp was issued as well as a silver coin, designed by
Damir Matausic.
Today's event in the Museum "Mimara" was also attended by Mimara's
wife Wiltrud Topic Mersmann.
