NEW YORK, April 19 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Nenad Porges
attended a meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC),
the Bretton Woods institution, International Monetary Fund and
World Bank which took place in New York on Saturday.
Present at the meeting were finance and economy ministers of a
number of UN member countries.
Porges informed the participants about the basic parameters of
Croatian monetary and fiscal policies, as well as its endeavours to
stimulate their development and inclusion into global economic
trends.
The discussion also focused on the financial crisis in south-
eastern Asia and its repercussions on global economy.
Apart from opening the limits of capital and its unhindered course
on global markets, the stability and efficiency of national
economies is of the greatest importance, the participants of the
meeting stressed.
The Croatian delegation, including the aide to the Croatian Foreign
Minister Vladimir Drobnjak and the permanent representative of
Croatia at the UN, Ivan Simonovic, advocated Croatia as candidate
for accession into the ECOSOC membership in the year 2000.
