ZAGREB, April 8 (Hina) - Hina forwarded a letter to the UN High
Commissioner for Refugees, Sadako Ogata, on Wednesday, apologising
for the agency's report of her visit to Knin and Drnis on April 5.
In the article, Hina misinterpreted Ogata's statement that the
UNHCR and international humanitarian organisations would soon
leave the area, and their role would be assumed by local
authorities.
On Tuesday night Hina reported Ogata's dismissal of the statement
at a news conference in Zagreb.
Hina's editorial office also apologises to all subscribers.
In the letter to Ogata, Hina informed her that it had not received
her announcement to visit Drnis, Knin and Korenica from the UNHCR
office, so the agency had not been able to send a professional
reporter from Zagreb to cover this important event.
