ZAGREB, Mar 29 (Hina) - After several months of preservation
procedures, the "Zagreb Mummy" was placed in a special glass box in
the Museum of Archaeology in Zagreb.
The "Zagreb Mummy" is the embalmed body of Nesi-Hensu, wife of
Paher-Hensu, a divine tailor from Thebes.
According to palaeographic analysis, the mummy dates back to
between the third and first century BC, but a more recent analysis
aided by the use of enriched carbon has ascertained that the mummy
dates from the early fourth century BC.
The chief preserver of the mummy is Nazzareno Gabrieli, head of the
Laboratory for Scientific Research at the Vatican Museums.
Nesi-Hensu's glass box was made in Germany, and its microclimate
will ensure that the restored edition of the mummy last longer.
The mummy was bought in mid last century in Egypt by Mihail Maric.
For a while, he kept the mummy in a Vienna museum, but in his will
requested that it be transferred for permanent storage in Zagreb.
After Maric passed away, the mummy was brought to Zagreb in 1862 by
his brother.
