KOSOVO ALBANIANS TO RETURN TO SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES

( Editorial: --> 1702 ) PRISTINA, March 23 (Hina) - Serb and Albanian representatives on Monday signed a protocol on the return of Albanians to the school and university buildings they were evicted from by the Serbian authorities seven years ago. The protocol was signed in Pristina, with the mediation of Msgr. Vincenzo Paglia of the humanitarian Catholic community of St Eugidio from Rome. After the signing of the protocol, Fehmi Agani, a high official with the strongest Kosovo Albanian party - the Kosovo Democratic Alliance - stressed the importance of the protocol, adding it was only a partial solution considering the current situation in Kosovo. According to the protocol, on 31 March, the Institute of Albanian Studies in Pristina will be returned to Albanians and by the end of April another three university buildings will be returned as well. Albanians should return to all school and university buildings by the end of April. About 10,000 Serb students, who oppose the signing of the protocol, are participating in anti-Albanian demonstrations on the streets of Pristina. Serb students from several Serbian towns arrived in Pristina for the demonstrations. The Pristina University's Scientific and Education Council, which is made up of Serbs, decided not to accept the protocol. The signed document was illegal and anti-constitutional and created conditions for the establishment of the main "separatist goal - the Republic of Kosovo," the Council said.
