BANJA LUKA, Mar 14 (Hina) - Tadeusz Mazowiecki, former United
Nations special rapporteur for human rights for the territory of
the former Yugoslavia, Saturday criticised the international
community's policy towards Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Mazowiecki is taking part in a solidarity conference in Banja Luka,
Bosnian Serb entity, organised by the European Bishops'
Conference's Justitia et Pax Commission.
The dramatic events in Kosovo pose the question whether Europe and
the world learned something from the Bosnian crisis, Mazowiecki
said.
He pointed out to the danger of the escalating Kosovo conflict and
criticised the international community for once again not having
taken any measures.
Mazowiecki believed Europe had made a big mistake in failing to
establish a joint policy towards Bosnia-Herzegovina.
If there is indifference to the situation in the Balkans it will be
impossible to overcome the divide between western and eastern
Europe, he concluded.
