ZAGREB, March 9 (Hina) - According to Federation of Independent
Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) data, prices in February were 1.7 per
cent higher than the month before, and not 0.4 per cent higher as
reported by official statistics.
This year's two-month increase in prices is 9 per cent higher than
in December 1997 and not 2.8 per cent higher as reported by official
statistics, the SSSH pointed out.
Prices in January rose 7.3 per cent.
The SSSH told reporters Monday the main cause for the average growth
in prices in February were more expensive utility products and
services.
The Federation estimates that with an average pay of 2,490 kuna in
December, a four-member family may settle 53 cent of costs, that is
live for 16 days, SSSH advisor Marina Kokanovic told reporters.
According to SSSH president Davor Juric, the SSSH last week
requested the continuation of negotiations on the tax disburdening
of wages as, he said, in negotiations to date demands on setting the
minimum wage and regular payment had not been met.
