ZAGREB/SALZBURG, March 8 (Hina) - A Croatian scientist from Zagreb,
Prof. Dr. Asim Kurjak, was elected a new standing permanent member
of the European Academy of Arts and Sciences.
At the annual conference of the Academy, held in Salzburg on
Saturday, Austria's Chancellor Viktor Klima presented diplomas to
ten distinguished European scientists.
The European Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded in 1990 in
Salzburg and its members are, among others, the King of Spain Juan
Carlos, Cardinal Franz Koenig, Helmut Kohl, Franz Vranitzky,
Jacques Santer and Vaclav Havel.
Croatia has eleven standing members in the Academy.
