BELI MANASTIR, March 6 (Hina) - The leadership of the eastern
Croatian town of Beli Manastir decided after a session Friday that
bodies of authority should evict persons using flats without valid
tenants' rights.
This measure will not affect persons protected through the Zagreb-
Erdut Agreement of the tripartite agreement signed by the Croatian
government, UN Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia
(UNTAES) and UN High Commission for refugees (UNHCR).
President of the Housing Commission, Josip Kompanovic, said that
from the 916 flats and family houses examined by 1 March in Beli
Manastir, 505 houses and 92 flats were abandoned.
Kompanovic added that 110 families who had moved to Beli Manastir
during the war wanted to sell their property in the town they lived
in before the war, 115 families decided to return to their previous
homes and 73 wanted to remain in the Croatian Danubian area.
