ZAGREB, Mar 2 (Hina) - The Croatian President's chief of staff,
Hrvoje Sarinic, Monday received ambassadors of the European
troika, Colin Munro of Great Britain, Josef Scheffers of the
Netherlands, and Rudolf Bognar of Austria, and European Commission
special envoy Per Vinther.
During talks, wrong interpretations of some parts of Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman's speech at the fourth general convention
of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union were clarified.
Sarinic reiterated Croatia's determination to consistently
implement the Washington and Dayton peace agreements but this, he
said, also necessitates more understanding on the part of the
international community.
The security situation in the Danube river region of eastern
Croatia was assessed as satisfactory, but the need to overcome
psychological obstacles was also pointed out.
Sarinic pointed out Croatia expected a lot of an announced
international donors conference aimed at ensuring means for the
renovation of houses and economy in eastern Croatia, which should
create conditions for the return and the normalisation of living
for all citizens.
