OSIJEK, Mar 2 (Hina) - The Osijek-Baranja County police department
said Monday that a group of citizens had gathered in a primary
school in the Danube region village of Ceminac on Sunday with the
aim of holding a public rally which was not reported to police.
The department says when officers from the local police station
warned organisers that the rally was unreported and that
infringement proceedings would be issued against them, the
organisers called off the rally without disturbing public order and
peace, a statement said.
On Monday Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) representatives also held
a press conference in Osijek on Sunday's incidents in Ceminac.
They claimed the attempted organisation of a rally by citizens of
Serb nationality was also attended by the Yugoslav Ambassador to
Croatia, Veljko Knezevic.
But the police statement does not mention the presence of Knezevic
at the event.
